Much like the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte, the Splash Laced Red Wyandotte will not go unnoticed. Their dense, deep brick-red feathers are outlined by light gray lacing. You don’t have to sacrifice production with these ornamental birds; Wyandottes are very much a dual purpose breed. They are good layers of 3-4 medium to large sized brown eggs weekly and have a broad, muscular body. Wyandottes are a friendly and gentle breed, though they aren’t “cuddly.” They can seem stand-offish at times, but this will vary from bird to bird. Usually pretty high in the pecking order because that don’t take nonsense, they aren’t bullies, either. Wyandottes make good mothers when allowed to go broody, as some Wyandotte hens are inclined to do. They also are good foragers but tolerate confinement well. We highly recommend this breed!
