If you want to have a big splash, the Splash Jersey Giant is the “Cannon Ball” of chickens. Get it? Big. Splash. The largest breed in the American Class, the Jersey Giant has appropriately been nicknamed the ‘Gentle Giant’. They are docile and known to be good around children, despite their large size. The  height of the hen is 16-20 inches, with the height of the rooster usually being 22-26 inches. Mature hens weigh about 11 pounds, while a rooster weighs around 13-15 pounds. They are not only huge, they are gorgeous.  The Splash Jersey Giants are whitish gray with dark gray to black splashes. Because of their large size, this breed takes a little longer to mature to a laying age, but the wait is definitely worth it! They are average layers that produce a considerably larger brown egg than most. Jersey Giants are adequate layers, but where they really stand out is in the meat category. One bird can feed a family of four!
