When it comes to appearance, Olive Eggers are a wildcard. They are predominantly black, blue or brown chicks, however they grow out in almost every color and/or combination of muffs and beards. Olive Eggers are not actually a breed of chicken but rather a description of what they produce. Our Olive eggers are f1, meaning first generation, and are bred from Black Copper Marans, Welsummers and Ameraucanas. The crossing of a chocolate layer with a blue layer is what produces these wonderfully varied chickens. These chicks will grow into hens that lay predominantly green eggs ranging in color from sage to olive.
